The Textile Recycling Association is the UK’s national federation representative of the Bureau of International Recycling – Textiles Division. The Bureau of International Recycling was established in 1948 and is an international trade federation representing the world’s recycling industry covering in particular ferrous and non-ferrous metals, paper and of course textiles.

Register of Approved Mattress Recyclers (RAMR)

RAMR – the Register of Approved Mattress Recyclers – has been set up on behalf of businesses and other stakeholders engaged in the collection and recycling of mattresses in the United Kingdom.

It is the brainchild of a steering group comprising two leading UK trade associations, the Textile Recycling Association (TRA) and the National Bed Federation (NBF), a number of mattress recyclers, manufacturers, retailers, waste management firms and local authority representatives.

Together they have established a new company, the Mattress Recycling Association Ltd, which will administer RAMR. The MRA is governed by an elected Council of member representatives. It will in its early stages be administered jointly by the TRA and NBF.

If you are from a mattress recycling business based in the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands or the Republic of Ireland, it would be in your interest to join this register.

TRUST Standard – Trader Recycling Universal Standard

A new accreditation standard for recyclers who trade with charity shops, local authorities, waste management companies and has been launched. TRUST – Trader Recycling Universal Standard – is the outcome of a coalition dedicated to boost standards within the recycling sector.
